The meaning of the eyes to the human beings need not be emphasized. Eyes provide us vision, without which life would lose most of its meaning. But at the same time, eyes are always exposed to the external environment. Almost everyone in the world overworks their eyes, due to which quite a lot of eye problems occur. The list of problems that occur with the eyes is almost never-ending. But even then, are we taking sufficient care of our eyes? This article provides some precious tips on care of the eyes.

Herbs for Eye Care


-Aniseed (Pimpinella anisum):Aniseed is particularly beneficial in the treatment of cataract. The powder of its seeds is taken in a tablespoon quantity each morning and evening.


-Babool (Acacia arabica): Babool can be helpful to treat conjunctivitis. A paste of the babool leaves should be applied on the eyes before going to sleep at night. It will lessen the itchiness, wateriness and the reddishness of the sore eyes.

-Carrot (Daucus carota): Carrot is so helpful in eye care that its virtues are taught to school students also. Carrots have beta-carotene, which is the precursor of vitamin A in the body. Vitamin A is responsible for strengthening the eyes and defending them from night blindness.

-Coriander (Coriandrum sativum): A decoction prepared from coriander can be used as an eyewash for public with conjunctivitis. There will be immediate decrease in the burning, redness and swelling of the eyes.


-Indian Gooseberry (Emblica officinalis): The Indian gooseberry, known as amalaki, is outstanding in treating ocular problems. It can fetch relief in both conjunctivitis and glaucoma. Its juice is taken with honey for enhanced effects.

-Indian Sorrel (Oxalis corniculata): The Indian Sorrel has outstanding properties in the treatment of a number of eye problems. A few drops of the juice of its leaves should be put in the eyes everyday to keep them free from strain. They can also be a good avoidance for cataract.

-Marigold (Calendula officinalis): Marigold is taken as a cold infusion for washing eyes that are strained. This brings a cooling result to the eyes.


-Parsley (Petroselinum crispum): The raw juice of parsley is useful for eye care. It can relieve the eyes of problems such as corneal ulcers, cataracts, weak eyes, conjunctivitis, opthalmia and slowness of the pupils.

Diet Tips for Eye Care


Vitamin A is directly responsible for the force and power of the eyes. Hence, foods that are rich in vitamin A should be taken. Vitamin A is contained in all orange and yellow colored vegetables such as carrots, oranges and pumpkins and in fruits similar to mangoes, papayas and oranges. Green leafy vegetables such as spinach, coriander and colocasia also hold vitamin A. Among non-vegetarian foodstuffs, fish, liver and eggs contain vitamin A. Dairy foodstuffs also have a fair amount of vitamin A in them.


Including vitamin C in the diet reduces the risk of cataracts. Foods holds vitamin C such as Indian gooseberry, guava, orange, lemon and tomato, capsicum, cabbage, etc. must be integrated in the diet.

Home Remedies for Common Eye Problems

-Prepare a mixture of identical proportions of aniseed powder and coriander seed powder. Mix it with an identical weight of unrefined sugar. Take it in doses of 12 grams each morning and evening. It is helpful for people with cataract.

-For people with weak eyesight, taking a mixture of the juices of raw parsley and carrots in a glassful amount daily will provide great benefits.


-Mix one part of sugar with three parts of coriander. Grind them into a fine powder and put this combination in boiling water. Stay it covered for one hour. Then filter it only with a clean cloth. Use the deposit as eye drops. This is an effective handling for conjunctivitis.

-Submerge almonds in milk and keep them overnight and in the morning, mix this milk with sandalwood. Apply this on eyelids carefully. This reduces redness of the eyes due to physical exertion.


-Inhaling the odors of sesame mixed in honey decreases the excessive wateriness of the eyes.


-Take two tiny pieces of cardamom. Crush them and dissolve the powder in milk. Boil the milk and drink it at night-time. This makes the eyes superior.

-Tomato also has great bleaching properties and rubbing raw tomato slices on the underarms for at least 10 minutes every day can help lighten underarm skin considerably.

-Rub the underarms with coconut oil to remove the darkness from the underarms.

-Baking soda also acts favourably in curing the darkness of the underarms. After bath, apply some baking soda onto the armpits.

-Apply Vitamin E oil on the armpits to treat dark underarms.

-Make a paste using 1 tsp of lime juice, 1 tsp of cucumber juice as well as a hint of turmeric powder. Apply this paste on your armpits and wash off after 20 minutes.

-Take 1 tsp of gram flour, 1 tsp of curd and a pinch of turmeric to make a paste. Apply this mixture to your armpits and rinse after it has dried with cold water.

-Mix a little sandalwood powder and a few drops of rose water to make a paste. Apply this paste onto your underarms.

-Prepared a mixture of a tablespoon of fresh yogurt with some dried orange peel powder. This mixture can be regularly applied to the armpits to effectively remove dark underarms.

Other Suggestions for Dark underarms

Use anti-fungal powder instead of anti-perspirants. Wear cotton clothes instead. Do not shave your underarms, instead wax them regularly. It will not only remove hair but also the dead skin.
