THINGS THAT IMPRESS PEOPLE AROUND YOU

There are a lot of things that impress people around you and most of the time, you are not even aware of them. I’m sure you do know that the little things are the ones that matter the most, because they are the ones that shape us into who we are. In this chaotic world, few people take the time to get to know you better. You can still impress them and show them who you really are with the use of those small gestures that characterize you. Even though these gestures are pretty simple, they do have a big impact and they do create a long-lasting impression. Despite the fact that we don’t like to admit it, sometimes our actions are influenced by our desire to please other people.

Here are a few very simple things that impress people around you, things you are not even aware of most of the times:

Be Honest

Tell people your polite but honest opinion. Be open about biases you may have and be willing to tell someone when you think something won't work (even if it's your own product). When you make a promise or assurance, keep it. Over-deliver on things that you promise if you can. You want to be someone that people view as very trustworthy. This is seem as a rare trait and is admired.

Keep Your Promises

In my opinion, the fact that you always keep your promises, no matter what, is definitely one of the simplest things that impress people around you. There are a lot of people who always make promises that they never keep, so it’s fine to find someone who you can really trust and who you know they will keep their word. Even though you might think that no one notices this amazing quality that you possess, I must tell you that you are wrong, because people respect and admire you for your honesty and for your dedication.

Be Positive

Be someone who can turn a terrible situation into a useful lesson without batting an eye. Always keep calm in tough situations. Don't be a complainer: just quietly confront problems and move on. People like people who can handle situations without becoming overwhelmed.

Care About Other People

People do notice that you care about others and that you show genuine interest in their problems. I know you are always trying to help other people and that you are only doing it for yourself, but they are really grateful for what you are doing for them. The more you help others, the more they will want to help you. Love and kindness begets love and kindness.

Respect Everyone

You will always impress the ones around you if you show other people respect, even though they sometimes don’t deserve it.Be respectful to your peers and superiors, but most importantly be respectful to people who others might view as "below" you. A great man once said, "If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals." That said, be kind to the poor, the homeless, your employees, etc. They're more your equals than you might like to admit.So, treat everyone with the same respect you would like to be treated and be nice to people.

Be Polite

Saying “thank you” and “please” is not so hard, yet these small gestures will impress the people around you, since sadly, nowadays fewer and fewer people actually display good manners. They are small words but they do go a long way.

Smile A Lot

Even though you may think that this is not something other people might notice, but by smiling a lot, you definitely impress the ones around you. You make them feel better, since smiles are contagious. By seeing someone smile, it can remind you of how many wonderful things you have in your life, things that you should be grateful for and you will realize that life can be fun and exciting.

Listen To Others

Do you usually listen to what other people are telling you? If not, you should, because this is definitely one of those simple things that can really impress the people around you. Having good listening skills will help you not only in your career but in your personal life as well. So, when someone is talking to you, listen to what they have to say and try to understand their point of view before thinking of what you are going to say next, because sometimes, people don’t need a response, they just need to feel understood and accepted for who they are.

Stand by your beliefs

A strong moral conviction is impressive to a lot of people. Do the right thing, especially when it's hard, and you'll find people patting you on the back before you know it. This can be complicated in a work place, but sometimes it's for the best.

Be Nice To Everyone

It might seem like the catty behavior of the popular crowd is what makes people like them, but it's not. If you're known for gossip, back-stabbing, and petty behavior, people are going to worry about what you'll do to them and no one will be impressed. Instead, be nice to everyone (even the people that other people don't like).

Make People Feel Good

Instead of just constantly talking about yourself, take an interest in what other people do too. Ask them about themselves. This will impress them, as people love to talk about themselves at parties. This is especially handy if they are popular but quiet.

Arrive on Time

Being on time is an important quality everyone should possess. It shows respect for the other person’s time and you are also helping yourself. I know that sometimes you just can’t help it and you do arrive late at a meeting, but try not to do it too often and always apologize for your actions. If you say that you are going to be in a certain place at a certain time, then make sure you keep your word, because waiting for someone who is late all the time is extremely frustrating.
